Sure a lot of you have heard of the "Clarksberg Quackers". There are the Peking Ducks rescued in Maryland.

40 ducks who would have been victims of predators or killed in the roads, took a little ride by way of SUV, to the safety of some wonderful people's home.
Can you imagine how much 40 ducks are adding to their feed costs? I think I read they ate 10lbs of feed in 10 minutes. Ouch!! They really need some help in relocating these birds. They've done a wonderful thing by rounding them up and caring for them, but they'd like to get them to some of their new homes.

There are several people from different areas, who are willing to take some of these ducks in. The problem is distance, enability to drive, etc.

We have ONE member total for the Egg Train in Maryland. We need more people interested in helping to get these birds to new homes. It would be nice to have more Maryland members on board anyway, so now is a good time to join.

With only one Maryland member it would also be nice to get a couple of people interested in coordinating the pick-ups and deliveries.

If anyone is traveling this summer, we could sure use your help. There are BYCers all over looking to help with giviing the "Quackers" new homes.

Use the links in my signature to sign-up to help and use the Coordinator thread if you would be willing to coordinate routes and meetups.

Just wanted to mention I am going to be out of town later today and will be home tomorrow night. I'll check in as soon as I get home and as soon as my "User Unfriendly" laptop will allow, but I will be checking.

Remember that you can also pm those that are on the Egg Train to see if they can assist you in transporting. It's fine to arrange transport individually, but it helps that having those interested have added their information to the thread or list.

If any of the state coordinators read this and would to help get this started, please by all means let us know.

Thank you for reading and I hope more of you join the "Train" soon, so we can make this an easy process in the future.

For now............"MOVE THOSE DUCKS"

Hi, I'm in the north east corner of Maryland. Hubby said "NO!!" to me getting any ducks, but I'm sure we can help some, not too far please. We are about 100 miles from Clarksburg but could be a middleman for this area.

Thank you Anne!

Isn't there anyone else that would like to help out these birds?

Could really use more help to offer them.

I'm in Ohio, Northern Ohio VERY close the the turnpike. I can't commit to much distance because I care for my elderly father, but I could take them from say the Youngstown, Ohio area west to the other side of Cleveland or so. I can be away for a couple hours and I could go one way, stop and check on him and then go west a ways because I really live THAT close to a turnpike exit (exit 193 - S.R. 44). I'd also like to Have some of these Quackers, so I could/would take a few less west than I picked up.

Not sure that helps too much, but it's something I suppose! I also know two people here who may want a few as well. (that's not a sure thing, but it's a possibility) I have a beat up station wagon that won't suffer from some ducks in the back! LOL

PM me if this will help at all, I'll PM back with a phone number and exact location. I don't see why I couldn't help in the future with eggs too. Again, I'm not sure how helpful it would be, but hey! I'd do my best.

//edit to add// or Akron, I live an easy distance to the Akron area too. Heck, I can get to most of N.E. Ohio with little trouble due to the highway access around here. Just contact me to see what will work!

I heard back from them and they've moved quit a few on their own.

I think she might still have some of them if you want to contact her. Her ID is Puddle Foot Farm.

She's like them to go to good homes with BYCers

Yep, I've been following that thread too and it sure looks like she's finding good homes for them all. Bringing them this far would probably be more stress than they need. Thanks though!
