We have just completed round 2 ouf an egg hatching project for a third grade class. We have one healthy chick and one that had a very difficult time hatching. We gave it a little help getting out of its shell ( I know, we probably shouldn't have). It has a weak neck and a slightly malformed wing and foot on the right side. It has had a bit of water and seems a little stronger afterwards but still having a tough time. Any suggestions on what we should do? Thanks!

Hate to say but is sounds like it's not a healthy chick and should probably be put down. Sorry. If a chick isn't strong enough to break out on its own it's not strong enough to survive. There are exceptions to every rule. Unfortunately your class gets a lesson you didn't plan on but it's an important lesson in life. Good Luck and sorry about your problems.

IMO, keep assisting it, maybe it'll get better....maybe not. I would give it a chance though.
