All Marans in the French,Continental and Common EU Poultry Standards are feather shanked. The Brown-Red (correct name for Black Coppers) is recognised in all these Standards.

The British Standard calls for clean shanked birds, but only the Silver Cuckoo,Dark Cockoo,Golden Cuckoo & Black are accepted. The BC is not and never has been accepted into the British Standard and is unknown in the UK.

The clean shanked BC appears to be a US innovation.

i have a blue copper pullet and a black copper pullet without feathers.my bcm rooster has feathers.i am not partial to feathered shanks-on the bantams its cute tho!
