Cleaning chickens?

Sorry if this sounds daft......but
Please can someone advise me on how best to wash my girls?
The last four we got were from a filthy farm that didnt look after its stock well, and there covered in muck.
We want to clean them but dont want to cause them any stress.
Many thanks..
 
No experience but you could also try searching prepare birds for showing as they get washed for those so you might find some answers there.

I've never washed the whole chicken, lol, but I have cleaned off a seriously poopy butt... I had been dreading it, but I was amazed at how easy it was. After the initial resistance, she just stood there in the sink and let me wash her. It may be easier than you think!
