I had to assist 6 hatches last night and 4 of the chicks required quite a bit of coconut oil to keep the membrane moist.
Today they are slicked with oil still and I’m not sure if the down being fluffy would help with regulating temperature.
All 4 are small and weak so I don’t want to harm them at all but is there a way to get the oil off of them and is it necessary / helpful?

thank you!

Not that I know of, it'll probably just have to wear off. Maybe rub them down good with a towel? I think they'll be ok if you leave it on.

Here they are today, 36 hours after assisted hatch, still pretty goopy and sticky
