Hi, I have a white leghorn hen and a rooster. One day I saw how the feathers directly above her butt, just before the tail feathers, was brown. I think my rooster stepped in poo before he mounted her. I tried washing it off, but that didn't seem to work well, and after a week, she still smells like poop.
Is there any way to easily clean her feathers and get her looking pretty again?

Hi, i see that you have posted here in New Members Introductions before. I’m sure it’s just an oversight - no worries :)

:welcome Cold water and if you bathe her, silver brightening shampoo but cut it or she may turn purple blue. I bathe my birds before shows and I have White Leghorns and Rhode Island Whites and that is what I do. When I put them back in their pens they are usually whiter than the others.

Well what I do you might not want to, i cut off the offending feathers dont get close to the skin, it wont hurt them, like trimming hair... my buff orps have super fluffy butts and they get poo stuck back there all the time so i trim the area they stay clean, and molt time is coming soon so they'll grow back
