Clear egg cartons or what is your fav?

I really like them but I wonder how sturdy they are and if the eggs can breathe.

I like the plastic ones so that you can see your eggs yes but dont use them.

Free is the best.

I am ordering recylced paper egg cartons. I really dont like them as much because they can soak up stuff if set down in a mess. But they are biodegratable.

Well of course free is best....but not the answer I was looking for!

I'm looking for more of a pros/cons kind of thing. It seems like you would sell more eggs if the customers can see them in the clear cartons.

...or do you offer paper and plastic like a grocery store??

I like the cardboard/paper ones.

If people want to see them open the carton up. Or put them in you fridge egg holder.

I have a guy that bring his own container so that he dont have to remember to bring back cartons.

We use whatever free cartons people give us. Some cartons are recycled so many times that both ends are colorful from marking the date in colored sharpie - then crossing it out to put a new date when the customer brings it back for a refill.
I guess it depends on your buyers.
We have a steady stream of people who know our eggs and are "regulars." They would rather we use (and reuse) free cartons because it's better for the environment. We don't have to do any anything fancy to market our eggs.
And it keeps our costs down.

I like the paper egg cartons that you can snap in half. That way, I can give someone a dozen or half a dozen.
