I am posting too much here goodness…

My disabled silkie squirts a clear liquid from her vent whenever she preens herself back there. Is this normal or is there something else possibly going on? There’s no smell to it or her either.

Is she drinking more water than usual? How is she doing as far as eating, drinking, acting normal, laying eggs, etc.
Acting normal has never been something she did. She had wry neck as a chick and now has permanent neurological problems that make her act very differently from other chickens. It’s difficult to decipher between ‘normal’ *her* behaviour and something off.

She lays eggs inconsistently but she does lay. As far as I see she drinks a regular amount of water, although she *might* have taken more sips here and there. Definitely eating though, and is very active. This has been happening for a while and I’m just now getting around to asking about it because I just really don’t get what she’s doing.

I had a hen who always had watery fluid droppings. This was when I had poop boards under my roost, and hers would be like pouring water into the sand-like bedding. She would act like she was laying an egg every other day, then no egg would be left in the next box. I never figured out her problem, but possibly was a false layer. No others ever did that. I hope that you can figure it out. You could try offering her a tablespoonful of cottage cheese a couple of days a week to see if her droppings become more solid.

She does have solid poo otherwise. It’s just a small bit of watery fluid expelled which is what confuses me.

Oh okay. It would be good to know if the clear fluid is yellow like water belly fluid is. If she does some, try putting a white paper towel on it to soak some up to note the color. Water belly fluid leaking could be related to reproductive disorders.
