Close to egg laying age

how should I prepare a nest for my ducks? Right now they all four sleep together in a large double wide hen box thing on the ground , I throw bedding in there occasionally but my ducks will start to lay eggs soon what should Indonto prepare a place for that or is that even neccesary?

We built two nesting boxes for my six ducks right as soon as they had laid a couple of eggs. We filled them with straw and they shape it into a little nest when they go in there. They started laying in the boxes right away, which was amazing. This way the eggs stay so nice and clean. Because they sleep in the rest of the coop and just go in the boxes to lay.

My ducks sleep in a 4x10 ft enclosed coop and the floor is covered with straw. I just put two boxes on one end and when I let them out in the morning, eggs are in the nest.
