Here's some better pics of my chicks. 5 1/2 wk Delawares, 7 wk BA and 8 wk RIR. Roos or Pullets? Thanks for your help, gonna trade roos back in if I can figure it out. Were bought as pullets but I think 1,2,3 are roos. Dunno, new to this.
I bought 20 chicks last year. A dozen of mix breeds, RIR, Wynadotts, Cochins, EE's,Giants. All 12 were roos. Out of my 8 Red sexies which I was told for sure were all pullets. 1 was a roo. 13 out of 20!! How lucky am I?!
If you click on the pictures to make them bigger, you can easily see the reddish comb and the already apparent red wattles on the first three birds. That is what indicates they are roos.
This STINKS, the BA's were the primary ones I wanted as hens and they're both roos, the Del and RIR were just the other breeds he had about the same age which were supposedly pullets too. He said he'd trade with me if they weren't, hope he responds back to my emails. Thanks everybody.
Ok, #1 BA has a short tail and #2 BA has a long tail but their comb and wattles look pretty close; it's pretty obvious #3 is roo, and one of the RIR has short tail and one has long tail. Now what do you think?
