Hey guys. New here! I live in Northeast Iowa and am in the beginning of my journey to chickens! I like the idea of raising chickens for pretty much two reasons. 1) I become more sustainable 2) It would be a wonderful experience for my 3 children and I. Okay, maybe three reasons... 3) I become instantaneously AWESOME for raising my own chickens.
There. Now that that's out of the way, I promise I won't toot my own horn anymore.
Like I said above I live in Iowa, on about a half acre in a neighborhood setting. I am looking to build a wood pallet coop approximately 8ft x 7ft x7ft with a slanted room for an assortment of somewhere around 7 chickens. I looked through a lot of your guys' coops and got MANY ideas! I might take a portion of the coop and use it for storage. I'm also hoping to incorporate some old wood frame windows into the structure. I want this to look legitimate so my neighbors don't scoff. This is my first encounter with pretty much anything chickens. I've seen them at the fairs, 4H, feed stores, played with chicks and grown chickens, etc., but I've certainly never raised and housed chickens personally.
I look forward to this great experience with my chickens, my children AND the chickens, and you chicken enthusiasts
