cocci medicine just as a precaution?

My buddies hens stopped laying for months and he gave them some cocci medication that goes in their water. They soon started laying again. My hens have slowed down production by half. Could I give them some of the same stuff to see if it helps?

I'm assuming it was an antibiotic he added to the chickens' water. Do you know what it was? Do your girls have any symptoms accompanying the decline in production like sneezing or wheezing? How long has it taken for your production to drop so dramatically? I ask because, while adding an antibiotic to the water might help, I think it would be useful to choose the med wisely and know what condition compromised them in the first place so that it can be addressed too!
