Hi!!
Found my girl this morning. She’s anywhere from 5-7months old, not sure since I only just got here 3”2 months ago and the lady wasn’t totally sure on age.

Found her this morning on the ground in the run, her head was down, I thought she was dead. Yesterday she was a little puffed up but I thought I’d just keep an eye on her! Wow! That happened fast!

I picked her up, she was near lifeless but still hanging on...she had bloody runny poop, definitely thought Coccidiosis, so I got the Corid, put it in some water and shot some in her mouth with a syringe. I’ve done this about 3 times now, first I thought I’d do it but I as probably too late.
When I came back the second time after about 3 hours, she was still alive and barely moving but rocking her head back and forth to me a little. Eyes still closed and not wanting to open them...gave her more water and some nitro drench to try to get her something in her tummy

Left, came back about 4 hours later, she was still pushing through, haven’t opened her eyes yet but still breathing and trying to lift her head a little, I gave her more Corid! Came back around 1:30am this morning, 5 hours later...she had her eyes open! Still very, very weak but I have so much hope for her!! I hope she pulls through this!!

I just hate this illness. Who knows anything about it and should I give Corid to my whole flock? All the time? How old Will then hens be when it doesn’t effect them anymore?

If this is coccidiosis, it's a very severe case.

Do not give her any nutri-drench while you are giving the Corid. Corid is amprolium which is a thiamine inhibitor. If you feed her thiamine (from the nutri-drench) it reduces the effectiveness of the amprolium.

If she was new, she was exposed to new strains of coccidia when she was exposed to your soil/flock and she will have exposed your original flock to the strains she brought in with her. So I would treat the entire flock with Corid water. 2 tsp per gallon in the water as the only source of drinking water for one week. Give them fresh water daily. After the first week, drop the dose to 1/2 tsp per gallon of water for another week or two.

For the really sick girl, continue to drench her with 1/2 cc of 9.6% Corid once daily for 5 to 7 days. Also have the 2 tsp/gallon Corid water available to her at all times. Use the Corid water to make a mash out of her feed and offer that to her once she perks up a bit more. Definitely keep giving her water carefully to keep her hydrated.

If she survives this, you will want to offer her some buttermilk mashes and probiotics after she's no longer on the Corid to try to rebalance her gut flora.

Good luck with her. I really hope she makes it.
