Is that possible? I thought it was an infection that hit 3-4 weeks?

So, I have a little girl that I just watch her poo and it was a tad funny and had two red bits in it! I am now freaking out thinking it could be Coccidiosis:(

I just watched her poo again, but this time it was solid and normal.
HELP!!!

Can you post some photos?
Maybe intestinal shedding?

It's possible for chicks to have a Coccidiosis at 4days, but usually it's when they are a little older. Observing their actions will give you some insight as well - huddling, being fluffed up along with lethargy, not eating/drinking, loss of balance would be things to look for.
If she's eating/drinking with gusto, active with the other chicks and not isolating herself, just keep a watch on her.
Here's some poop to look at :D

I just observed her eating, drinking, and playing and all 3 chicks just feel asleep.

I just can't find any info on why there would be blood in stool besides coccidiosis.

Do they have a bloody stool and then a normal one? This is soooo stressful, I'm not sure I can do this again:(

Can you post a photo of what you are seeing?
If it's not intestinal shedding, then you will need to assume it's bloody poop. Treatment would be with Corid which can be found at most feed stores.
Dosage is 1 1/2 teaspoons Corid powder per gallon or 2 teaspoons of 9.6% Corid liquid per gallon. Give for 5-7 days - make sure this is the ONLY water available during that time period. Mix a fresh batch at least once a day.

What is intestinal shed? Oh my!
She just had two poops, and both normal:

What is intestinal shed?

If you will look at the 2 links provided in my previous post you will see some photos of different types of poop. Intestinal shedding is like the sloughing off of the intestinal lining as a chicken grows. A very small amount is fairly normal, but if you see a lot on a daily basis, then it would need to be investigated further.

The 2poops you posted look normal to me.

Thank you so much and for your article.
This is my second time with baby chicks. I have never seen the shed before.
I am going to hope that is what it is, as she is eating and drinking and just had 2 normal poos.
I will re evaluate in the morning, and if I find more blood, head for the meds.
Thanks to you all!
