I found an "interesting" poop this morning in the run. Normal poop surrounding what appeared to be plump earthworm-looking things. After looking at a gazillion chicken poop pictures, I haven't seen anything else like it. It was fresh, and there is nothing on the dropping boards that resemble it. Even the intestinal shed pictures on this site don't look as plump.
the details: four hens, one is about 22 months, the other three between 25-40 weeks. These three joined the flock in October.
The run and roost is covered with sand, and we literally replaced most of the sand last weekend due to very heavy rain which had soaked the sand, and it was in need of raking and freshening. Also fixed a drainage problem which had caused some of the sand to stay wet.
All seem healthy, eating well, drinking well. They have fresh water most every day in a hanging waterer, and they are fed Layer crumble in a hanging feeder. They get eggshells and some greens as snacks.
One of the new girls is laying every day. The other two have not started, easy to tell because of egg color. The OG girl is in the longest-ever molt, so no eggs from her in a while.
I should have taken a photo, but couldnt hold the phone, the shovel and not vomit at the same time. but I did clear it out of the run, and have checked all the other poops.
should I play the odds, and just start them on Corid?
Many thanks
Mary
