My local post office got 2 separate orders of chicks in on the same morning. They called the name of the lady on the first box they looked at and just assumed the second box of chicks was hers. They scanned both boxes when she came to pick them up but again didn't look closely. Now I had ordered only 6 chicks and the other lady had also only ordered 6 chicks. She proceeds to take them home, opens them all up and puts them in her brooder. Why she didn't initially question getting 2 boxes I'll never know. Crazy enough we had both ordered from the same hatchery and they had sent 8 chicks in each order. Also she had ordered Brahmas and I had ordered Standard Cochins both feather footed breeds. Long story short I go to her house and we are trying to figure out how to sort 16 chicks! She had gotten light and dark brahma. We could figure out the light brahmas, partridge cochin, and the barred cochin. The rest I guessed on. I have ended up with 2 golden laced cochin, 2 barred, 2 dark brahmas, 1 partridge cochin and this one I can't figure out. I was hoping it would be a silver laced cochin. It doesn't look like the 2 brahmas I have. They have the grey penciling coming in on their feathers. Could it be a silver laced cochin or a male brahma? If you've read this far thanks for any input!

A crazy story indeed! To tell the difference between brahma and cochin simply look at the combs. Cochins have a single comb and brahmas have a pea comb.

The photo is a big blurry but it looks more like a single comb to me so a cochin. You may have to wait a few more weeks before being able to tell what color though.
