I have a female cockatiel and an unkown gender cockatiel. I have read up on how to take care of these birds when they are laying eggs etc. My yellow girl cockatiel lays two clutches of eggs every year (she about 2 1/2 - 3 years old) and my gray cockatiel is about 5 Years old. The gray one never lays eggs. Yet my yellow cockatiel's eggs never hatch.

Is there something wrong with my gray cocaktiel? Why will it neither lay nor fertilize eggs?
Thanks so much! I'm so worried! :/

The all grey one is a female, the males have a white face. I had both a male and a female white faced cockatiels (female was all grey) and a yellow cockatiel (female also) the yellow one laid eggs but the grey didn't. It may have something to do with the breed but I'm not sure, hope this helps!

ok thanks! im jst hoping thats its true and that the only reason she doesnt lay eggs is because of the breed! thank you!

You can always check the tail and if it has bars or lines it's definitely a female although it is absent in some but it's rare
