I just got my first chickens, and even though I picked the pullets I ended up with a little cockerel. He is approximately 3 weeks old and a barred rock. Double barred gene, not sure if that's important.

I do not have the experience nor the required hen amount to keep him. So I am in need of a new home for him soon.

We are in millington tn. I can drive a short distance to meet up with someone.

Ty to jujubuggena for helping to inform and teach me of the breeds and sexes I have.

He's cute!

If he's the only rooster with the hens you have, you could be fine.

I have had one rooster that was totally fine with his one girlfriend. They were engaged, but broke it off.

I have another rooster that is totally fine with the two girlfriends he has. Even though he's part of a larger flock, he has no interest in mating with other girls.

When the hormones kick in at about 4 - 6 months old, just keep an eye on them to make sure the boy isn't over mating with the girls. Some boys have very high mating drives and others have low mating drives. You won't know until the mating starts.

Make sure the girls have their own hiding spaces to go to, to avoid the boy.

You can make it work. If you have questions, please ask me.
