New to chickens here. We adopted four chicks who hatched from eggs in my son's kindergarten classroom in mid-March. They're about 13 weeks old now, and we're trying to answer the eternal chicken question -- cockerel or pullet?
The mottled one is Fluffy
The golden one with black tail is Stripey
The black one is Blackie
The white one is Sven
(all named by my 6-year-old son and my 7-year-old niece)
I'm pretty sure Fluffy and Stripey are cockerels. Not sure about the other two.
Also interested in thoughts on breed. All except Sven have feathered legs & toes which is kind of unusual I think.
Also, any ideas on what to do with unwanted roosters? We are in Lafayette, CA, just east of San Francisco.
