As many of you know I have two ducks Cocoa (female) and Ebony (male) that my best guess is they are Swedish mixes.

Well, yesterday I noticed Cocoa sitting in the middle of the yard I didn't think anything of it. I went on with my day fed all of the animals, took the kids to school, had t-ball practice, then finaly after dinner my hubby and I were sitting outside by our garden like we normaly do every night. The chicken coop, run, and the ducks little pool are all right next to the garden. My hubby noticed that Cocoa was laying down next to there food bowl which is weird since they normaly are running from the food to there water like ducks do. But she was just laying down by the food eating like that. Then she scooted over kind of like of crawl. I watched and anytime she wanted to move she did an army crawl I guess you could call it. Then just lay for a second.

The first thing I thought was oh no bumblefoot since that is what every talks about when ducks have problems walking. I went and picked her up and sat down with her. My hubby held her and I looked at her feet and nothing was red, yellow, bulging, nothing looked even close to being hurt. They looked like perfect duck feet and her legs weren't swollen. She didn't jerk them away or anything. We felt her stomack and you can feel an egg. She lays an egg every day so I don't think she is egg bound. I think we just felt the egg that she was going to lay today forming. We rubbed her all over looking for any weird feeling bumps or anything and couldn't find anything. Nothing we touched made her jump or swirm.

We put her down and she tried to walk. She stood up like a runner would take a few steps then lay down. Her whole body kind of wiggled like you could tell she was walking in pain.

We put a bowl of food and water in front of her and she ate and drank. This morning she was sitting on her nest like she does every morning to lay an egg.

We have no idea what could be wrong with her. Does anyone have any experience with this?

She gets fed layer feed, is free range so she eats grass and whatever else she wants, and I has oyster shell in a feeder that she gets.

could she be egg bound- if she lays everyday and hasnt that could be the problem.

I don't think so.

Her belly didn't feel like it had a lot in it. She has been laying everyday still.

I just went and checked on her and she is still laying on the nest. I bent down by her and she hissed at me. I don't know if she is all of a sudden doing a broody thing of is she was scared since she couldn't move.

I went and got her a little bowl of food and water and put in next to the rose bush she is under. I fed her some of her feed from my hand and she ate it very quickly like normal. But she didn't get up to eat any more.

My drake has been mating with her a lot lately and all of her poor feathers are messed up now also. Do you think he could have hurt her back or something like that?
