Hi can someone please help me with the following questions..sorry if they are dumb im new to this lol

How long can fertilized eggs last in a nest while a hen is collecting a brood?

Should i be doing anything to the eggs while im waiting (turning etc)?

Does the temp (aussie winter) 6 degrees Celsius at night around 25 max during day) impact the eggs while the hen is collecting a brood but not siiting yet?

Is a hen throwing straw on her back and around her an early sign of going broody?

Sorry about all the questions. Newbie here ! Tia

About the turning eggs thing, I think you should leave mom to do her thing.. Sorry don't know the answers to the other ones..

If you are collecting eggs for a broody hen, you should be collecting them every day, putting them in a cool place(not real cold or hot) and at least tilt them at a angle twice a day until you set the hen. These collected eggs would be "BEST" if you set them with in a week/10 days at the most.
Hens laying a lot of eggs in a nest is no guarantee they will go broody!

A hen throwing straw over her back is No Sign of going broody.

If you want to try to encourage broodiness you can place fake/real looking eggs in a nest.
