Let's say I'm realllllly forgetful about collecting the eggs. How long can they remain in the coop before they go bad? (my husband brought the chickens home and then moved out of state)

Depending on how hot your weather is, 3-4 days maybe. If I forget for more than a couple days I usually float them in water to see if they're ok to eat.

Well, if you have a rooster, and a broody hen, if you wait 23 days, you'll have some one or two day old chicks......

If nobody is sitting on them, you can "forget" to gather the eggs for a few days, no problem. That is, of course, if the outdoors temps have not been in the 80s or higher for those days you "forgot."
