I have 4 EE/RIR cross Mother EE father RIR Is the color egg gene dominant so if nay of these are hens they will lay blue or green eggs or will they lay brown eggs like RIR??

Love that question!!!

Ok, let's reverse it. My roo is a pure white EE boy and he's over four buff orpingtons. Two of the offspring is in the brooder. One has green legs, one has the BO orange legs. Is it the father, the mother or both that passes on the gene?

Chicky Tocks,

I should be the same as stated above..
If your Hen has Orange legs then it isn't a Buff Orpington, It might be a Buff Rock..
Buff Orpingtons have White/Pink legs.

My mistake! My buff orpington's have white legs. My little girl on the left have a pale yellow leg. Must be the EE throwback? Or maybe they'll eventually turn white or green. The little boy on the right has green legs. I know that one's a boy because he's two days older than the girl and she feathered out twice as fast as he did. Actually, maybe that leg is a little closer to pink?

I hatched some eggs last summer from a RIR/EE cross roo, and RIR, BO, and BR hens. When the eight pullets grew up (each very colorful and unique), six layed brown eggs, and two layed blue eggs. The two that layed blue eggs had one thing in common: they had pea combs. All of their brown-egg-laying sisters had single combs. This may be just coincidence (sp?), but I tend to think not!

I can't tell for sure from the photo wether yours have pea combs or single combs...
