Color of duck eggs

My Khaki Campbells just started laying. The eggs come out an off white. We general have to do some rinsing off since they never fail to step all over them before I have collected them. Even when we rinse (no scrubbing or scraping) them off they still look sort of dirty. Is this normal? We would like to market some of these in the future but are not sure how these would be received.

What you are describing is normal for ducks. Do you have a nest box set up, sometimes they like to use those and keep them cleaner.

May I ask, how many weeks old are your Campbells?

My Khakis are 20 weeks old today. Part of the problem may be that I close them up at night. The enclosure isn't huge. I have thought about a nest box in there but just haven't put it in yet. I guess I will have to do that next.
