I'm new to having chickens.but a few of the girls have started laying eggs. My barred Rock, wellsummer, and buff orphington. Someone is laying light green eggs, mint color. Which could this be?

I agree, someone is masquerading as a breed that she is not! Post some photos and let's find the impostor!

Are these the only 3 breeds you have? I was surprised when I got a blue egg one day because my Ameraucana had never squatted and had no comb to speak of at the time, but apparently she was ready to lay after all. Do you have any other chickens at all that may have laid this egg?

I have an astralorp, two Rhode island Reds, and I think a rooster that was supposed to be a maran. They're all just turning 4 to 5 months and the surprise rooster crowed for the first time this morning.

All about same age between 4 and 5 months.

Thank you so much for your input. I was beginning to think what I thought was a silver laced Wyandotte hen was a rooster. The tail feathers are starting to get long and graceful. Well the people I got these chicks from ...saw me coming. A real newby! I'm happy about the EE. Now I need to read about them. Guess I'll be looking for a home for my two roosters that I purchased as hens. I started to see the two of them squaring off. They need to go soon. I just love my Barred Rock, Barbara. She is so affectionate.
