I have some buff orpington hens and a splash male. Will the males have the genetic coloring from the hen and the father? Then the hens will have only the males coloring? This has me a bit confused. gloria Jean

YOu will probably get a mix of colors with with that combo. You could have blue with buff breast or cream with black lacing, or black with buff coloring on the breast. I would think whatever you get crossing blue to buff would still be in play as splash dilute blue.

And Bama Chicken, her splash rooster is your Blue Boy's grandson. That Suede has kids, grandkids and great grandkids all over the country. Gloria Jean, we need updated pics of your boy.

Cyn. He is a hunk but a tall hunk. I still have not had time to take any pics. There is so much to do since I got back and so little energy to do it yet. I have three chicks from the matting of my orps. I thought I had just set the blue, splash and megs childs eggs but I think that I have one of the buffs in the mix , or it could possibly be one of megs daughter Velvets.. I have one splash, I think is a roo., one black and one mix spash and buff or velvets, also a ? roo. The black I think is a pullet. Do you know anyone who wants a splash roo? they are three weeks old? I know you need pic.s
