Color?

Hello:

I have been looking around for guinea keets as I did not have much luck hatching keets from my pair. As I am looking at colors I am wondering if my male is odd or normal for a Pearl. He has white on his wings. The person I got him from only had Pearl and Lavender in their flocks and he looked like any other Pearl guinea as a keet. However the hatcheries pictures do not show the white that Melvin has.

Is this normal for a male Pearl or does he have odd markings?

It is not uncommon for some pearl gray guineas to have a few white wing feathers. There has been speculation as to what it means but no conclusive evidence to establish what it means has been presented. The white feathers can be present in both males and females and others may not have any white wing feathers.

@R2elk Thank you! It doesn't matter to me what color he is as my guineas are my pets, predator alrams and bug eaters, not show birds. But I was curious!
