Hello Everyone!

So I'm new to chickens, we have been working on a coop and run this spring, and its nearly complete. So we searched online for somewhere to buy chickens and talked to some people at Murdochs who recommend an online site we could order different breeds from, they had excellent reviews so we jumped in and ordered 6 chickens, a few weeks later we got them in the mail and were in for a huge surprise, while we ordered 6, we received 20. We contacted the hatchery and they said that chicks like more company while shipping so they included some extras for us!

We ordered all females, and they guarantee a 90% successful sexing, so I would guess that a couple of these are roosters hiding among the girls.

20 is too many, so we need to get down to 6 or 8, I'd like to sell the remaining for $5 each. Here is what we received based on the shipping invoice and a couple pictures of the chicks and the food they're currently being fed.

3 buff orpington
2 easter eggers
2 light brahma
3 red sex link
3 rhode island red

We paid for the Mareks vaccine.

My wife has posted this up on a facebook group as well, we're a little overwhelmed with 20 of the little girls, though it has been fantastic watching them for a couple weeks. They're currently two weeks old.

If anyone has any questions, or would like any other information please let me know.

Thanks!
Josh

And what are the other 7? Most likely all sexlink cockerels. Your biggest challenge will be identifying each chick so you keep the ones you want. The EEs are easy because they will have green or willow legs. The LBs might have some black feathers coming in on the wings. The BO should be fat and fluffier. The RIR and sexlink will prove the biggest challenge to differentiate. Cockerels can show their true selves even as early as a few weeks old. Watch the group and identify the bossy ones
Anyway, if you have the room to keep all of them until 10-12 weeks you will know for sure who the girls are and you can quickly sell the extras on CL for $15 each and pay for the ones you keep.
Next time, if you are in the front range, make the drive to FC. Feeders Supply carries an amazing selection of chicks year round. She had upwards of 60 breeds and color combinations earlier this spring.
