Coloring chicks

Ok so I have heard you can do this. I am kinda-sorta heading up the chicken part of our 4-H group and I thought this would be fun.We hatched last year so the kids know how to properly care for the chicks.

Do I have them apply food coloring after the hatch or insert it in the egg?
If someone could give me instructions or pics it would be much appriciated.

There has been an ongoing and interesting thread about this already! Go to "I dyed my eggs tonight", and she has some pics posted and a website about how to do it.

I have got to try this some time, but better have a succesful and just regular hatch first!
