I’m looking for an easy to read guide to colors. Basically I’m interested in what combinations will result in what colors. I found a “color calculator” online but it either doesn’t work, or doesn’t like my phone.
Currently I’m wanting to know what chick colors I would get when I crossed my black rooster on my black hens & black tailed buff hens, or if I used my silver & black rooster instead. They are all Japanese Bantams.
Any info is appreciated!

Purebreds?

Black x black = black.
Black x black-tailed buff = should be "dipped"—usually a buff breast and black backside and head. It does with Orpingons, anyway. But the parents of the cases I've seen weren't black-tailed, they were plain buff. (The genetic calculator will tell you that they come out completely black. It's wrong.)

What color is your silver and black rooster? Can you post a picture? (Duckwing, black-tailed white, Columbian--I don't know much about Japanese Bantams.)

Your rooster's birchen.

Black x birchen should be black, with probable [silver] leakage.

Not 100% positive what birchen will do with the buff, but Birchen is dominant to the color pattern (partridge or wheaten) on which buff is based, so you should get silver birchen pullets and lemon (they'll look silver) birchen cockerels out of that cross.
