Hi, I've just recently got some quail and this one is an interesting colour compared to the rest, does it have a name?
What would be a good match to cross with to gain more of this lovely chestnut colour?

Cheers everyone

Looks like sparkly egyptian (roux wild pattern). You are lucky, he looks like a male. Roux is sex linked, so if you cross him to hens that are not roux, all roux colored offspring will be females. I would cross to another sparkly pharaoh if possible, if not, cross to a wild pattern that is not roux or sex linked brown.

I believe, but I’m not certain, that sparkly is incompletely dominant. So any of his female offspring who look like him or similar, cross back to him and you should get some of both genders that look like him.

That is really interesting, I'm in New Zealand so have only seen Pharoah, Tibetan, Italian and White mentioned wherever I've looked, although I'm pretty new to this, so perhaps there are other types sitting with hobbyists
