I have been searching on here for info on comb and wattles now pale. I have a BO that has been laying for a few weeks and the end of last week started acting a bit broody. She would sit in the nest all day and didn't lay eggs for 3 days. She came out in the evening and rooster with the others at night in the coop. Then after a few days went back to normal and started laying again. But now her comb and waddles are so pale they are nearly white. She up and about, eating drinking laying. Just pale... any ideas? Thanks.. here is a pic from today

This is actually a bit more pink than they have been. And her comb has always flopped over like that..

Have you searched your birds really well, at night time with a flash light, for mites and or lice?

Yes I didn't find anything. She's the only one out of 20 like this. She did have a scratch on her comb that had a tiny bit of blood a week or two ago. Its healed and fine now.

But i did noticed mosquitos around her when she was acting broody those few days, can they cause anything to be wrong?

It sounds like you may need to de-worm your chickens. They can definitely get worms seasonally and from mosquitoes. You can get a fecal test from your vet or proactively de-worm if you haven't done so recently.

Worming won't hurt, I would use Ivermectin and Valbazen alternating from one to the next. Also if it's very hot were your at that can cause a pale face and comb in some. Sometimes hens will go pale faced when there brooding.

I would NOT worm unless you vet a fecal float test done by a vet first.

One should have a regular worming program, if your free ranging they all have worms. Yes get a fecal test then you will know what your up against. Good luck with your hen
