Hello my friends,

My little chicken sustained an injury to the lower aspect of her comb that is attached to the mid part of her beak. It was bleeding. So I washed it with warm water and it didn’t appear to be a crack or anything serious. It coagulated immediately after I washed it with a little warm water and gauze. No profuse bleeding. I then applied some neosporin “original formula” ointment daily.

It appear healed now. It looks to me like a dark scab? Or is it necrotic? Hopefully I am overreacting. She eats well.

Lastly, I noticed on the medial aspects of both her ankles she has these little dots. I am learning the chicken anatomy. Is this a normal part of her anatomy ? Is it her metatarsal spur? Or an infection?

Below are after and before pics of the comb/beak and then the ankles “metatarsal spurs”.

Thank you for your help!!!

I don’t see anything too serious, and it looks like a scab to me as well. Are you still applying a dab of plain Neosporin daily? The dots on the back of the leg are normal.
Great. I am. I guess I should continue putting neosporin? Just want that crust to come off. Thanks so much. Glad it doesn’t look serious at all.
