Does anyone know what is happening when a hens comb starts to collapse and meld into a short, flat mass? it is happening on several of the hens...and comments or help would be appreciated... My flock is various ages with the most of the hens at coming into 2years of age. they are outside in large area with a coop they are closed up in every night. they do not appear to have any other symptoms. no coughing, no sneezing, no wheezing, they are all eating fine, laying fine. and seem to act normal with the exception of the combs. the wattles are ok....no swellling or discoloration. I just noticed that the combs almost look as if they melted....it is odd... thanks for all your help...
