I have a 5 month old hen who fits the Orpie breed to a T, tho she was sold to me as a hybrid. From time to time, her comb will turn a purpley blue color around the edges. It's not every day that it does this and it's only about 1/16 of an inch on the edge. It doesn't always look this way and does return to the bright red color of the rest of it. Is this normal or should I be watching her for other things? She eats and drinks fine and is very active. Keeps her feathers in great condition, eyes are clear and she's as big a diva as ever. Just wondering if it could have been the heat causing this since we just got over the Texas heatwave of '22 here.

Blood pressure can cause dark colors in combs and a chickens mood affects her blood pressure. If she's calm, it might be a bit dark.
