His daddy's a silver-laced polish. He came out of a brown or green egg. The EE's that I currently have laying are just your normal, run of the mill, pretty brown EE. My brown egg layers are australorp, BR, SLW or GLW. The SLW disappeared sometime before he hatched, but I don't know exactly when. It might have been before his egg was laid. She might not be a possibility, but with his colors, I dunno...

I always thought he was half EE, but his comb looks like a modified single comb. So help me figure out his mama. I'm thinking BR...

I would say it was an EE mix too. I have some with single combs. Hard to tell anything from his coloring. I have several mixed Polish chicks from a Splash Polish hen with several different roos, they all seem to come out colored similarly, black head with black and white body. Good luck with yours, with that beard, he is so cute!

But could this single-looking comb come from a cross with a pea comb and a V comb? As a chick, he had the chipmunk stripes and fluffy face of an EE, so I was sure he came from a green egg, but the comb has me really curious...

Is there a comb calculator, to tell what happens when you cross comb types?
