so the past week, ive been hearing a sort of half baked crow, every morning at around 8:00. ive been blaming hubby's thai babies cause they are getting quite big, and im nervous about the noise factor here.... we already have a very very very noisy loud complaining hen... so this mroning i heard the cuckaccccccccoooooo. and i rushed to look out the window to see who it was, and lo and behold it is my very mature (about two three years old) crooked toed red hen... i saw her. she was standing on the rock in the coop yard, and did that peculiar head movement that they do after a crow. only her crow is short and not too loud. as of yet.
is this a reversible syndrome? will she stop laying? (i know she lays cause ive watched her lay a very nice creamy beige egg almost every day)... the laws around here are : whatever a neighbhor complains about, has to go. (kibbutz hs its own laws/tacit agreements, so so far so good as my neighbhors like visiting the hens, but now with avian flu making the news, and some hysterical mothers here, who knows... )
i dont shut them in their coop at night, they are free to go in and out all the time, but if shutting them in until i get up for them will keep her quiet, then i will do that. at moment, i leave door open so that miss complainer doesnt screech non stop to get out of the coop house...
am contemplating still to get rid of miss screech, but i like her, she at least hsa personality compared to teh egg machine leghorns, and i also like miss rhode island the crower, vor the same reason. suggestions?
at night she doesnt crow, nor during the day. just the morning in the mean time...
