What are people using for commercial pigeon feeds these days?

I used to feed Bay-Mor feeds back in the day. When I crossed into the realm of a few hundred racers and the cost of feed spiked, I switched to a custom blend of roasted soybeans, corn, and whatever grain was really available (wheat, oats, rye).

And pigeon grit and free flying.

It doesn't look like Bay-Mor is available any longer?

What are people feeding pigeons in 2025? I haven't owned any in a number of years, and I'm thinking of picking up a couple of pairs. Possibly squab type birds or fantails, so maybe not flying them. And if that's the case, maybe one off the pelleted pigeon feeds would be better? I always fed whole seed with grit, but I'm open to being educated.

What's everyone using these days?

Pellets are okay. I find that they make the droppings looser and messier if they constitute most of the diet though. I will mix pellets into the seed mix whenever I am breeding birds to provide easy nutrition to the babies and feeding parents.

I feed Versele Laga or Brown’s brand pigeon feed. You can find both brands on Chewy, it’s easy to hit the weight threshold for free shipping with hefty feed bags, and if you set up a recurring shipment of say every 3 months you get even more savings. I buy bags of what’s usually called breeder mix which has more protein and peas, as well as a mix with more corn. The birds will eat usually eat more in the winter so I just adjust accordingly. If you’re keeping a ton of birds you might want to look into other options like bulk mixing your own simply for cost benefit, but this works well for me with a dozen or less pigeons.
I really like Versele Laga in general. I use their grit also.

I used to purchase pigeon mix from local feed stores but many of them stopped carrying it or closed down :(
