I would like to invest in a few good books (my local library only has a few) to help me with al things chicken so that I can flip through as issues arise. I can only start with a few-

If you could only pick 2 or 3 books to start your chicken library, which ones would you pick and why? Thanks in advance!

Best wishes,
Sarah

Carla Emery - The Encyclopedia of Country Living This is not a chicken specific book, but she does have some good info on chickens - especially if you're just starting out with them. She also has tons of other very useful information.

A few others I have that you may find helpful are:

Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens
The Chicken Health Handbook
Barnyard in Your Backyard

Hope that helps,
Penny

It does, thanks! I own Carla Emery's Encycolpedia and love it! I checked out Barnyard in Your Backyard from my local library and am also enjoying that one- It seems like Gail Damerow is really a knowledgable author on this topic, though my library does not have either Storey's for Chickens or the Chicken Health Handbook, so I think I may have to go ahead and buy those two

Thank you so much for your reply- there are a ton of books out there so I wanted to be sure that the two or three I got would really get me started and be a good resource over the next several months.
