I just recently purchased a new thermostat wafer for my old hova bator. I was wondering if i can get just a computer fan to hook up in there. Some fans i see have 4 wires coming off of it. Can i just keep the 2 reds and 2 blacks together and solder them into my power wires? i prob should look for one with just 2 wires coming off of it. Has anyone done this before? Any assistiance would be greatly appriciated. thank you

You better get a two wire so that you are on the safe side (more wires are for RPM measure and control if you connect them to power is smoke ) and make sure that is rated for your voltage install it as to blow the air towards the top of the incu and not downwards to the eggs have a space close to 1 inch between the motor and top of the hovabator the only problem i had with this configuration is that due the fan generated heat when the temperature in the room is higher than 27 C the temperature rises to 101 F in the incu with the heater off

I have a computer fan in my incubator but I have it farther from my eggs and on the wall near the bottom of the incubator with maybe a half inch gap between the fan and the wall of the incubator. My runs very well, between 99-100. Sometimes it will run 97-99. I built mine with a 25-watt light bulb, a water heater thermostat, and a computer fan. Its a very simple design but very effective!

I have put a finer mesh of hardware cloth in since this photo but the wire keep the chicks off these so they don't get hurt after they hatch.

This was my first hatch in my hand built incubator. I moved the water bottle to the other side of wire after this hatch too. The water bottle acts as a heat sink and stabilizes the temperature. I have two in this size incubator.

This is a picture of my most recent hatch with the water bottle moved behind the screen and a finer mesh of hardware cloth. I hope this helps!

From the pictures i see you have a home made incu that has a lot of room to fix a fan on the side Hovabator has only one option to fix the motor on top i have two older than 15 years upgraded many times now i use a diy thermostat and 220 V computer fan

I don't have any experience with a Hovabator. I have had a Brinsea and I currently have a Little Giant. I bought my computer fans at Staples with just one black wire and one red wire. Is there any way you can install that fan and make a cover to go over it to keep the chicks from getting hit by it? I'm not exactly sure how the installation is but I'm guessing its similar to how the Little Giant is set up since it has all of its stuff also mounted in the lid! Do you have any pictures?

I have also a new hova bator with the fan. I noticed the same thong with thinking there heads will go in the fan. I mounted some hardware cloth to it by zip ties.
