Speckled, my half blind runt Lil' Bit has always done fine with the flock. My roo somehow senses that she's different and watches out for her.
Like yours, Lil'Bit has a hard time pecking at things, especially the pellets in the feeder. I check her crop each evening and if it seems too empty, I give her a treat before bed; usually a piece of bread if I don't have more nutritious treats handy.
The only major problem Lil'Bit has is not being able to see to jump up on a roost at night. She's learned to wait by the door for me to put her up on a roost.
Is she dominated by the other hens? Sure, but she's also learned to stick up for herself and is definitely not at the bottom of the pecking order.
