Hopefully someone can chime in with some advice for a few questions I have about doing a garage conversion.

We are renting so major structural modifications are a no no, as would be drilling into the walls. The garage is 2.4m x 6m but we are only going to use an area of 2.4m x 1.4m (4ft 7 x 7ft 8) as the remainder of the garage is needed.

At the end of the garage where the coop will be are windows about 5ft off the floor, 4 windows in total. 2 are covered with screening and 2 with glass. Our plan is to remove the screening on one window and turn it into a poop hole. We Plan to have a ramp both inside and outside the house leading to the window which we will put a door on.

As they say a picture is worth a thousand words so below is a shot of what we currently have, the small 2ft high partition is where the boundary of the coop will be.

So that is what we are working with.

my plans so far are for walls/nestbox and door to be like this...

and the ramp/perch to be...

I'm just not sure such a long ramp will work with a roost lower than the ramp? I'm trying to think of other ways i might organise the layout but im drawing blanks. If anyone of you fine people have ideas please chime in. I'm at a loss and need to start making progress on it before the chicks can hop over my temporary partition.

I don't know if the long ramp will work but if it doesn't, you can build a free standing loft or a few lofts of various heights so you can have shorter ramps.
