Hey y'all I have a confusing situation here. I have 1 rooster and 7 hens. Although only 6 of my hens lay eggs. They layed 6 eggs today. 5 white and one brown which is the norm. I collected the eggs as I do everyday. As I was doing the normal chores in and around the coop I came across a 5 foot snake inside the coop, luckily my chickens were out in the field free ranging so I disposed of the snake with a shotgun. Well this evening as I was making sure all the hens were in for the night I noticed one of my leghorns laid an egg while on the roost. Although the yolk was intact but there was a flat shell a few inches away. What would cause her too lay so soon? And defective?
