Ok, so you breed a LAV (black) chicken to a lav (lavender) chicken, you will get 100% split black (LAV/lav), right???

So, then, if you breed split black (LAV/lav), to split black (LAV,lav) you will then get 25% black (LAV LAV), 25%lavender (lav/lav) and 50% split black (LAV/lav). Correct???

So.... if you instead breed a lavender chicken (lav/lav) to a split black chicken (Lav/lav) you should get 50% split black (LAV/lav) and 50% lavender (lav/lav).

Is this all right?? Or am I confused?

You got it !

Correct, but what you call LAV I would call Lav+.
Only the initial capitalized indicates that this allele is the dominant one.
The + indicates that it is the one that is in wildtype chicken.
