When I candled my eggs two days ago (day 12) They looked a day or two behind. How could that have happened under a broody hen, she had been moved and a whole day to settle down. The next day I counted as her first day. Are bantam eggs different looking than standard eggs?

So, I counldn't resist the urge but I candled them a few minutes ago. Its day 14 but once again they look to be on 13 :( Is it because they are smaller so fill up less of the egg?

You better stop messing with her eggs...you might make her mad enough to quit sitting on them.

I know, she’s the sweetest hen, never pecks or “growls” shes in a brooder box under a milk crate with towels on top. I normally don’t treat Broodies like this but she’s not even a year old yet. Just started laying mid winter.

Every hatch is different when we hatched silkies for the first time they were all given the same day still one was a day early the next was on time and the other one was a couple days late besidesthe fact it was our first time hatch we opens it up thinking it was dead...

... we named it zombie
So they could just hatch a day late

Even more reason to leave her alone....you aren't sure she will sit it out. Some birds quit sitting before the eggs hatch.
