Tomorrow is day 7 of my incubation of 8 ancona duck eggs, 4 are clear ( does that mean they aren't going to grow?) One has a little dot in it but no veins (does this mean its not growing either?) 2 are growing very well with bright red veins and a little baby inside! (very happy and excited about those 2!!) But the last one started growing strong, but is starting to look a little cloudy....what could this mean? I know this is a lot of questions, but I am completely new to this.....please help! Thank you in advanced to anyone who answers.

You need to take the one with tho dot in it out i found out the hard way! it is bacteria in the egg and it can jump to other eggs, after 7 days the other eggs should be at the same stage as the 2 which are doing well, sorry to say it but sounds like you will have 2 chicks, i find this picture very helpful

Thank you sarahc, I was pretty sure but my husband kept trying to say they were just slow developers, I will take the dot egg out right away, also what do you think of the one that is looking "sickly" the other day it had beautiful veins, but now is kind of cloudy and veins aren't as dark as other 2..

no problem, just keep a close eye on it, if a ring appears remove it, where did you get the eggs from? it wont do any harm to leave the clear 1s for another few days just to be sure i would hate to stop the egg from developing! :)

dont toss duck eggs before day 10 (except obvious bad eggs), to give all eggs their chance to start. Some incubators will have cold spots in them which effects the eggs development. They are nothing like incubating chicken eggs, by day ten you will know for sure if an egg has quit early and if you have non starters.

Yes I will leave the clear ones a few more days, I live in sw michigan, I looked on craigslist and found a duck farmer near me, I was going to have some shipped to me but read alot of horror stories so decided to go local. the farmer had cayuga males and both male and female anconas. so I won't know if they are mixed or not as his all free-range.

Ok so I will toss the bacteria one I don't want it effecting my healthy ones...and after say day 10 if the clear ones dont show anything they won't right? So its ok to toss those so they don't develop bacteria or anything bad...thank you for your help!

sometimes if the eggs are old or have been damaged in any way it can let the bacteria in or wont be fertile, its good you got local and yes take the 1 spot egg out now it wont develop just make sure there are no veins in it before you remove it.
