Hi, I’m looking for more information on congenital loco - stargazing chicks.
I’ve hatched 26 silkie chicks this weekend from 2 breeding pens. 16 from my paint pen and 10 from my blue pen.
From the blue pen, 3 on 10 chicks were stargazing. Last hatch from the same pen also one stargazer. Breeding eggs from the breeder were I got my rooster from and have the same dad: 4 stargazers.
I’m inclined to believe it’s a genetic defect, passed through my rooster. Does anyone have more info on this? Attached is what I found. I have a lot of chicks from my last hatch from this pen; but I suppose they’re shouldn’t be bred with anymore? Or am I correct that non afflicted females are not carriers and could be used for breeding?
