considering whole-yard fencing options for ducks

Hi all, We've been thinking about fencing our whole yard so our ducks can have more space to roam and forage, particularly for the dreaded deer ticks. I keep coming back and looking at fencing options, and never walk away feeling like I know what I want. Mainly, what dimensions of fencing do I need to contain my Ancona flock. I know 48" high will be plenty high enough, and that's the height of the three Red Brand options I'm considering.

Red Brand Yard, Garden & Kennel

PRO: 2" x 2" mesh is certainly inescapable by the ducks.
CON: lightest wire gauge (16ga) of all three options.

Square Deal Sheep & Goat Fence

PRO: heaviest wire gauge of all three options.
CON: Can ducks escape through 4" x 4" mesh?

Monarch Deer & Orchard Fence
https://redbrandstore.com/collectio...nce/products/deer-orchard-fence-2048-6-14-1-2
PROS: wire gauge is heavier than 2x2 fencing, spacing as small as 1" x 6" at bottom will exclude some critters from yard, substantially lower cost per foot.
CONS: lighter wire gauge than 4x4 fencing, spacing varies from 1x6 at bottom to 3-1/4x6 halfway up, could ducks escape or get caught?

My preference is for the deer and orchard, but I'm not convinced that it will contain the ducks. Their present yard that has welded wire 2" x 4", and they'll stick their heads through it hard when they're trying to get something or panicked. Thoughts?

Hmm, I like the deer and orchard fencing the best of those options. It's possible that a duck could get caught in the bigger holes - and that's why I wouldn't choose the 4x4 mesh. Even at 2x2, a duck could get its bill caught. At least the deer and orchard fencing has the narrowing gap width. If there are areas that you think a duck could get caught in it, you could always add some chicken wire or hardware cloth to be sure there won't be a problem.
