Consuming eggs from hen with long term illness

I have a rather odd question that I can’t research online because the terms I need to input turn up answers to a totally different question (should people with cancer eat eggs?). One of my hens has had a bulging belly for months now and if I had to guess, I’d suspect it to be cancer. Her behavior is totally normal and she doesn’t have any symptoms, kind of like some of the human cancer patients I have known. Despite being eggbound for awhile, she recovered from that and is laying again, albeit very big eggs that sometimes crack from being too large to pass. I know this is a weird question, but is it safe to eat her eggs? I have a hard time believing cancer can be passed on in this way, but I have no idea. We aren’t eating them because it feels weird to, but it also feels wasteful and disrespectful to throw them out given that she’s pulled through what we thought would be a quick fatal illness and is laying these eggs again. Any advice?

Sounds like she has water belly. It can be caused by various things and yes, cancer can be one of the causes. Regardless, those things generally aren't treatable

As for your question, it's fine to eat her eggs, water belly isn't caused by anything contagious to humans. Hens also lay larger eggs as they get older so while it's something to keep an eye on, it's nothing to worry about in of itself
