Ive bread bourbon reds for a fare few years now but have a issue with a new male. He's been in with 3 hens. One is now separate as she's raising poults and unfortunately the other two recently got taken by a fox (2nd attack in 9 years). The neighbours hedge had grown through my weld mesh fence and actually lifted it along with the fox skirt! Although the Tom is with other poultry at the moment keeping him company he's done nothing but gobble for 4 days. Every 60seconds! My neighbour is now moaning and to be honest I'm struggling too! I can't get hold of another hen right now. Any ideas? He's always been more vocal than my old Tom and I understand he's calling for the girls but it's WAY too much.
Do anti crow collars work on turkeys??? Bar locking him in a shed I'm at a loss on how to deal with this. My neighbours nasty at the best of times even though he moved in next to a working farm and registered poultry farm!!!
Thanks

Sorry but you already know the only two solutions.

1. Get him more hens.
2. Get rid of him either by sale or processing.

Those are the only methods that will work.

Guessed that was the only options. Just so stressed and upset about the whole situation right now. Just can't seem to get any hens right now only poults. May have to bite the bullet and try sell him or process, then get another Tom when my poults are older and mothers finished rearing them. Although I have a large turkey house I feel it unfair to lock him up when they are so used to the big field. I'd hoped having other poultry with him would of helped but not so.

I know it most likely isnt ideal... but have you tried craigslist, facebook local poultry fs or local auctions? Or can it be made so that he can see and interact with the maman hen and her poults? Like side by side but barrier between?

I've often half-joked about getting a sitting hen turkey decoy for the toms when they're upset about most of the girls sitting on nests. Who knows, it might calm him down until you can find more friends for him.

Each individual turkey is different. My tom went into continuous gobble mode yesterday because his favorite hen was sitting on a nest. He was not alone as there is one hen that is still not nesting but it did not matter to him because his main squeeze was not with him.
